The "Mad Scientist" (Gerard J. Vargas) is a commercial music producer, remixer and film scorer specializing in a wide variety of genres (Hip Hop/R&B, Electronica, Latin, and Pop).
Gerry's versatility and technical understanding of orchestral music theory coupled with his perfectionist view of music production make Gerry's music stand out in today's musical era.
Gerard writes music for movie trailers and has gained recognition by notable music supervisors such as Marcy Bulkeley (Big Picture Entertainment) and Heather Kreamer (Create Advertising). He also receives high acclaim from the President of the National Association of Record Industry Professionals (NARIP). Gerard has teamed up with Motown Legendary Songwriter Clay Drayton (Michael Jackson, Jackson 5, Diana Ross) to produce for Earth Wind and Fire, film, tv, video games and many other commercial artists.
Gerry's experience in music production is very extensive and his career is emerging at a fast rate after producing hit remixes such as Arthur Hanlon's "La Gorda Linda" featuring Tito Nieves, for Fonovisa Records, Darryl DBoneau's Cry for Lifeline Records, DJ Cobra M.O.N.I remix for CAPP Records, MAXX Mixes Hip Hop and Reggaeton for Univision Records and other remixes for European dance labels.
Gerry is a classically trained pianist, professional DJ, and director of "The Producer Club," a popular high school club in Los Angeles that trains young adults to songwrite, sing, produce, promote and distribute a professional music album.
Gerry has film scored for the UCLA and USC film schools and has produced documentary scores for Norton Publishing university textbooks.
Gerry has currently produced the music for LATV's "LATV Does Hollywood" and "LATV Live."
Gerard also founded the popular series, "The Producer's Bootcamp Seminar", an intense one-day workshop tailormade for busy music industry professionals who want to learn music production (mixing, mastering, and marketing) for tv, commercials, and multimedia in a timely efficient manner.
After graduating with a B.S. in Physiological Science from UCLA, Gerry began teaching Biology at ANIMO Leadership Charter High School in Inglewood, CA. Gerard is currently working on the development of his record label, teaching science education methods as a professor for Loyola Marymount University, obtaining his second masters degree, and consulting teachers at various schools in Southern California.
